Upcoding at Southern California Health Center Results in Settlement

The El Centro Regional Medical Center has agreed to pay the U.S. $2.2 million to settled allegations of Medicare fraud. The False Claims Act lawsuit, filed by whistleblower Pietro Ingrande, a former employee of the Center, was filed in 2006. For his efforts, Ingrande will receive $375,000 of the recovery.
